Description:

The Marketing Manager is a key player in the Marketing team overseeing, developing and analyzing all Retention marketing-related activities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to articulate best practices and innovative ideas in a consultative approach.

He/She will be focused primarily on email marketing and social media. The marketing manager will be responsible for all aspects of planning and strategy including calendar planning, campaign development, ideation, testing, segmentation, and analytics. He/She plays an integral role in inspiring and converting customers to interact with the brand and make a purchase. In order to achieve this goal, they will be able to look at the various business needs, assess requirements, apply/consult on strategies, execute and analyze results to continue to tune the “best in class” model for all interactive programs, as well as look at processes to create greater efficiencies.

This position requires a high-energy, self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills, high detail-orientation and excellent written and verbal communication. Must be thoughtful about the consumer; understand the value of the customer relationship -- and the opportunities that the email, online, and social channel affords as a retention channel.
 

Responsibilities:

  • • Direct the design, customer segmentation, messaging, analytics and test-and-learn strategies for all email marketing communications.
    • Drive direct-to-consumer strategy, assisting development and execution of outbound email campaigns that are aligned with overall merchandising strategy and continually working to improve performance metrics.
    • Own, develop, and drive Social Media strategy for company to generate material cost-effective traffic, prospects, and demand for business, increase engagement, and increase awareness.
    • Support a strategic customer contact strategy that is focused on key customer segments and designed to enhance customer lifetime value and encourage retention.
    • Utilize aggressive testing to maximize campaign performance and isolated campaign-driver effectiveness.
    • Regularly optimize the design, content, targeting, and messaging of interactive programs.
    • Develop targeted campaigns using conversions to monitor and report effectiveness, leading to continuous improvement of experience, business results, optimized campaign scheduling, and deeper customer relationships.
    • Provide leadership in a cross-functional setting to foster new ideas, cultivate concepts and create actionable next steps for implementation;
    • Continually research and seek out more effective processes to improve overall programs and be able to effectively drive new initiatives successfully and efficiently through to conclusion.
    • Work with on-staff operations experts and third party vendors to identify and troubleshoot problems, and identify and execute against enhancement opportunities.
    • Forecast annual goals for revenue and customer response rates, and meet the goals, taking corrective actions as necessary
    • Lead monthly and seasonal analysis and review of all owned email results and programs.

Requirements:

  • • 5-7 years of direct marketing experience, including 3+ years in email campaign operations, and 2+ years in social media campaign management.
    • Intimate knowledge of email communication strategy -- both written and visual, deliverability, and segmentation practices.
    • Expert in email best practices including contact strategies, design, A/B testing, delivery and deliverability issues, customer segmentation, and analytics/performance management
    • Experience leading the development, testing and implementation of automated and event triggered email programs.
    • Unique balance of disciplined strategic thinking, creative passion, and a willingness to be hands-on, while being able to stay “above the fray” to ensure goals are being hit.
    • Highly data driven. However, you are comfortable in an environment where objective and subjective measure of success both carry weight.
    • Ability to strategically interpret data and successfully develop recommendations. (at least 3 yrs in a report driven marketing environment)
    • Strong technical skills including in-depth understanding of email and database marketing infrastructures & technologies.
    • Proven track record of profitably developing and executing data-driven direct marketing strategies.
    • Experience executing retention campaigns that are part of multi-pronged marketing strategy that crosses teams and organizations.
    • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, multi-task, and participate in a team-based planning process.
    • Experience with HTML and applications such as YesMail, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and SQL preferred.
